Margaret J. Carney

ELMIRA - Margaret J. Carney, 93, of Elmira passed away on Monday, December 29, 2020 at ELCOR Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.Born on December 29, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Abram and Mary (Hutcheson) Mills.On April 18, 1953, she married Ralph Carney and they shared 30 happy years together. Margaret loved polka.For many years she was a member of Polka Magic and a member of Daughters of America.She also volunteered at ELCOR for many years.More than anything, she cherished the time that she shared with her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Carney; her son, George Carney; and her brothers, Abram Mills, Jr. and Alford Mills. Survivors include her son, Robert (Kathleen) Carney of Pine City; her daughters, Alyce (Kevin) Courtney of Elmira, Betty Carney of Pine Valley; her granddaughters, Karen (Philip) Avery of Elmira, Casandra Carney of Big Flats, Colleen (Joseph) Mihalek of Rome, PA; 6 great-granddaughters; as well many nieces and nephews. Services will be private and at the convenience of Margaret's family. Margaret's family would like to thank the staff at ELCOR Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the many years of love and care given to her.
