Loretta (Loret) H. Richards, 65, of Elmira, New York, passed away at home, surrounded by her loved ones, on September 14th, 2020.She was born October 8, 1954, in Manhattan, New York, the daughter of Charles and Christina (Ostrowski) Markiewicz. Loret graduated from Corning-Painted Post West High School, Class of 1972, and received an Associate’s Degree in Law from Corning Community College in 2000. Loret is predeceased by her father, Charles Markiewicz and survived by her mother, Christina Markiewicz, and her sister Elizabeth Markiewicz; her children Robert Richards VI, Christina McConnell, Kimberly Richards, and Stephanie Richards; and her grandchildren Trevor McConnell, Amber McConnell, and Brandon McConnell.While Loret was a skilled paralegal and manager, her greatest accomplishment was being a mother.She always put her children first and worked hard to give them lives worth living.She raised them with selflessness, unconditional love, and a strength of character that was inherited by her children and grandchildren.As her love is passed down from one generation until the next, that is how Loret will live on forever. Due to safety concerns of the current Covid virus pandemic, there will be no calling hours.There will be a small Mass with a limited number of participants held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Elmira, New York, followed by her internment and a brief graveside service in Woodlawn Cemetery.
