Linn S. Brotzman, age 98, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2024, at the Corning Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, Corning, NY. Linn was born January 23, 1926, in Elmira, NY, son of the late Homer and Vera (Hay) Brotzman. He was married to Harriett (Gelatt) Brotzman, and they celebrated 69 years together prior to her passing on May 31, 2016. After graduation from Southside High School in 1944, Linn was drafted by the US Army, serving in the European theatre. After his service, he attended and graduated from Bryant and Stratton Business School in Buffalo, NY.
Surviving are his children: Mark (Kaye) Brotzman of Fairport, NY, Sue (Charles) Milazzo of Corning, NY; five grandchildren: Rebecca (Erik) Brotzman-Miller, Sean (Jennifer) LaRose, Anne (Christopher) Walters, Laura (Kevin) Mackiewicz, Kate Milazzo (Patrick Lally): and several great grandchildren. He was a devoted member of the New Beginnings United Methodist Church for many years. Linn, alongside his wife Harriett, owned and operated the very much missed X-CEL Dairy in the heart of downtown Southport. After retiring from the X-CEL, he devoted countless hours to Meals on Wheels volunteering well into his 80’s. Linn and Harriett were active in several area square dance clubs and valued the special friends they made there. He was very much loved by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and cherished by his many friends. His easy-going nature and marvelous sense of humor brought joy to everyone he met.
Family and friends are invited to gather at the New Beginnings Church, 300 E. Miller St., Elmira, NY on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 10 AM to 11 AM. His memorial service will be held there at 11 AM with Pastor Pat Huban officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, NY. Arrangements are under the direction of the Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY 14904.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made in Linn’s name to Meals on Wheels of Chemung County at 409 William Street, Elmira, NY 14901 or New Beginnings United Methodist Church at 300 East Miller St, Elmira, NY 14904. We wish to thank the staff of the Corning Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing for the care and support they gave to Linn during his final years.
