Darmstadt, Leo James, age 81 long time resident of Caton, NY was blessed into peace Tuesday, December 25th, 2001 at the United States Veteran?s Hospital of Bath, NY.Leo is the beloved son of the late Nicholas and Kate Brewer Darmstadt. He was born in Caton, NY May 5th, 1920. Surviving Leo is his loving children; Donna (Gene) White of Pine City, NY, James (Urlee) Darmstadt of Lindley, NY, Kathie Darmstadt of Gillett, PA, Thomas (Barb) Darmstadt of Lindley, NY, Sally (Jeff) Dillon of Lindley, NY, 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, brothers; Edmon Darmstadt of Pine City, NY, Austin Darmstadt of Painted Post, NY, and several nieces and nephews including Manley and Judy Davis of Painted Post, NY.Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY, Sunday, December 30th, 2001, 2:00 to 4:00PM with funeral and committal services to be held there at the conclusion ofcalling hours at 4PM. Internment will be privately at the convenience of the family in Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira, NY. Leo was predeceased by his dear wife Helen B.Darmstadt in 1995.Leo was a dedicated Navy veteran of World War II and most recently received the metal of great sacrifice, the Purple Heart, through action he saw during his extensive 5 year period in the war. Many area residents knew Leo for his well drilling abilities.
