Lee Earl Ameigh

Age 66, a country boy at heart, born on July 18, 1936 in Burdett, NY died Saturday, August 31, 2002 in Elmira after a long courageous battle with colon cancer. His beloved wife Judy Walker Ameigh of 43 years cared for him compassionately until the end when he died in her arms. Besides his adored wife, Lee is survived by: his children and grandchildren whom he loved deeply. daughter: Pamela Lee (Paul) McCann of St. Petersburg, FL and grandson Gage Taylor, son: Randy Lee (Sherry) and grandchildren Brian, Jeff, Brandon and Joanna Curren, son: Thomas Lee (Deborah) of Tucson, AZ and grandchildren Heather and Dillon, sisters: Peggy (Cy) Grover, Judy Wolverton, brothers: Lynn (Ida), Jerry (Clara), Jack, Richard (Joann), Donald, Nelson, Milton, sisters-in-law: Joy Bellinger, Jerry Curren, JoAnn (Richard) Clark, Joan Payne, brothers-in-law: Jack Bellinger, George Bartlett, special cousin: Mary (Walt) Marlett, special friends: Barb & Lenny Shock, Mary & Carl Fawcett, compassionate nurses of the Bath VA: Debbie Dieterle, NP and Emma Jackson, RN and a special thank you to Oncologist Dr. Abby Thrower of the Tucson VA. He was predeceased by: his adored parents: Lynn & Genevieve Ameigh, brother: Frank, sisters: Mary Bartlett and Velma Grover, sisters-in-law: Edemia Ameigh and Jean Pettengill Flourney, brothers-in-law: Jack and John Walker and Stanley Pettengill, special mother and father-in-law: Martha Brookman and John Walker Sr., nephew: Joseph Ameigh and ?Sister? M. Eleanore OSB of St. Joseph?s Convent as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and co-workers. Lee worked as a professional truck driver with Pipe Welding, Mobil Oil, Dory Express, Ingersoll-Rand, and Dalrymple Construction as well as Schuyler County OFA. He was a self-taught mechanic, carpenter, plumber and fulfilled a life long dream of building his own home in Watkins. He enjoyed playing autoharp, harmonica, dancing, cards, fishing, traveling, camping and his family. After retirement he and wife Judy lived in Seminole, FL and Tucson, AZ. Lee served his country proudly in the United States Army and Army Reserves. He was a former Boy Scout Master of Troop 15, Huck Finn Little League Coach, former Teamster and Moose Club member. He was a generous, loving, kind, compassionate, loyal, respectful, accountable person to everyone he knew and encountered. His generosity and laughter is a great loss to the world. He was an inspiration to us all. His motto was: ?I lived my life to the fullest, I did it my way?. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY 14904 on Wednesday, September 4, 2002 from 7pm until 9pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2002 at 11am. Dr. Lee Love will officiate. Interment will be held in the Sugar Hill Cemetery in Watkins Glen.
