Youngs, Joyce Ann (Miller) Age 69, went to be with her loving Lord on Saturday, October 13, 2001 at the Robert Packer Hospital after a brief illness.Joyce was born in Watertown, NY on July 4th, 1932.She was the precious daughter of the late Clyde and Anna Miller.Joyce is survived by her loving husband Philip L. Youngs. For many years, they shared a wonderful life together.She was the loving mother and mother-in-law to; sons and daughters-in-law;Terry and Bonnie of Pine City, NY, Mark andKaren of Elmira, NY and Richard and Pam of Elmira, NY.Joyce has 9 fun and loving grandchildren; Kelli, Kyle, Keith, Kevin, Matthias, Jairus, Seth, Michael and Ryan all of Pine City and Elmira, NY.All the grandchildren will remember how proud Joyce was of keeping a stash of goodies just for them. She is also survived by a very loving sister; Janice of Naples, FL, brothers and sisters-in-law; Clyde and Georgette Miller of Watertown, NY, Joseph (Lorraine) Youngs of New Hampshire; sisters and brothers-in-law; Evelyn (James) Hunt of Brownville, NY, Arlene (Kenneth) Goodfriend of Brownville, NY, Estella (John) Passage of Carthage, NY and Alice Andrews of Rutland, NY.Joyce was a graduate of Corning Community College School of Nursing where she graduated proudly at the age of 40, with high honors.She is a member of the prestigious group Who?s Who of American College Women, a collection of outstanding and successful women of the twentieth century.Joyce also attended Elmira College to further her education in the Nursing field, which she loved so much.She grew to have a great deal of confidence and was very accomplished. She was very proud of her nursing skills and knowledge.Joyce was employed by St.Joseph?s Hospital until 1988.The latter seven years, serving as an oncology nurse.Upon completion of her career at St.Joseph?s, she was associated with Elmira Heat Treat;the Youngs? family owned business.Joyce believed in exercise and keeping fit.Her fitness goals were enthusiastically met each day by taking walks outside and swimming. Both Joyce and her husband Philip retired in September of 2000 with intentions of traveling and spending quality time together.Joyce was the kind of mother who thought of her children first and foremost.She raised her boys and then went back to school.Joyce was a remarkable mother-in-law who will be remembered for her love of entertaining and giving her personal touch to everything around her.In her home, she enjoyed the company of her little dogs that she loved so much.Joyce?s many talents included her ability to decorate and her keen sense of hospitality.She always wanted anyone and everyone to know that they were welcome in her home.Her family will always have a collection of memories to choose from including the parties she hosted for every occasion. Joyce was truly a friend to people of all ages , affectionately know as ?Nan?.Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Tuesday, October 16th, 2001 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 17th, 2001 at 10am at St.Mary?s Church, 224 Franklin Street, Elmira, NY.Prayers of committal will be shared in the St.Peter and Paul?s Cemetery Elmira, NY immediately following the mass on Wednesday.The Rev. Timothy Brennen will officiate. Memorial donations in Joyce A.Youngs name may be directed to the American Cancer Society, P.O.Box #7, East Syracuse, NY 13057 or to a charity of one?s choice.A candle of memory may be lit in Joyce?s honor at www.olthof.com.
