Joyce O. Sykes Loving wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother Age 76 of Holdridge Street Elmira, NY went home to be with her Lord peacefully on Sunday, March 31, 2002 at St. Joseph?s. She was born September 8, 1925 in Montour Falls, NY the daughter of the late Glenn and Ann (Saunders) Palmer. Joyce married Newman Mark Sykes on January 15, 1945 in the Trinity Episcopal Church. They have celebrated 57 wonderful years of life and love together. Her survivors include: loving husband, Newman; beloved children, Linda (Michael) Campagna of Horseheads, NY; Mark Sykes of Elmira, NY; Mary Lou (Michael) Kimball of Big Flats, NY; Janet (David) Truman also of Big Flats, NY; sister, Marjorie (Ted) Egger of Auburn, NY; much-loved grandchildren, Rick (Ineke) Fitzgerald, Sean (Robin) Fitzgerald, Michael Campagna, Jill (Robert) Charles, Shane, Sara, Lindsay and Jimmy Truman; great grandchildren, Christopher, Connor and Joshua Fitzgerald, Ashley Rose Cardone, Ethan Taylor Cardone, Jordon Robert Charles; along with several nieces, nephews great nieces and great nephews. Joyce was a member of the Maranatha Bible Chapel. She was employed with K-Mart for 13 years as cashier, was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening. Family was everything to Joyce, especially attending all of her grandchildren?s sporting events. Family and friends are invited to call at the Maranatha Bible Chapel 774 Sing Sing Road Horseheads, NY on Wednesday, April 3, 2002 from 10:00 to 1:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held there at the conclusion of the calling hours. (1:00 PM) The Reverend William Wells and Reverend Daniel Miller will officiate. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Elmira, NY. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations in the name of Joyce O.
