Joyce E. Cicconi

Joyce Ellanor DeWalt Cicconi née Becker, a native of Elmira, NY and resident of Pine City, NY passed away on October 3, 2024. She was 86 years old.

Joyce was a dedicated English teacher at Elmira Free Academy. She was an avid reader who enjoyed traveling and appreciated fine arts, especially classical music. She was herself a musician, playing the piano beautifully, and she taught her sons to play as well. She loved Jesus and tried her best to live out her faith on a daily basis. Above all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and hearing about their adventures and journeys through life.

She was preceded in death by: her parents - Lloyd and Cecile (Peckham) Becker; her husbands – Robert W. DeWalt, who passed in 1992, and Joseph H. Cicconi, who passed in 2022; and her sister Anne Mowery.

She is survived by: her sons – Stephen DeWalt and wife Mary, Rob Fell-DeWalt and wife Elizabeth, and Lynn DeWalt and wife Teresa; her step-daughters – Zebra Cicconi-Crozier and her husband Steven, and Tarra Crouse and her husband Christopher; her grandchildren – Simone DeWalt, Nate Fell-DeWalt, Abi Fell-DeWalt, Bri DeWalt, and Brenna DeWalt; her brother Robert Becker and wife Cookie; and her nieces and nephews – Todd Becker and wife Stephanie, Ryan Becker, and Beth Ann Miller.

Friends and family are invited to calling hours on Monday, October 7, 2024 from 10:30 AM until 12:30 PM when her funeral service will begin, at Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY 14904. Burial at St. Peter and Paul’s Cemetery to follow.

The families of Joyce's children would like to give a special THANK YOU to the members of CareFirst and to Teri Decker and her team of home health aides. We are so grateful for the loving care you provided to our mother!
