Joseph Charles â??Joe�? Flint

Age 78 formerly of Elmira Heights, NY passed away Saturday, November 9, 2002 peacefully at the Schuyler Hospital Montour Falls, NY. He was born January 29, 1924 in Hornell, NY the son of the late Joseph Charles and Florence (Bacon) Flint Sr. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Flint; sister, Dolores Wich. He is survived by his former wife of 22 years, Cecelia (Piasecki) Edmonds; his loving daughters, Teri (Michael) Cook of Horseheads, NY; Chris Shappee of Delaware; Cathy (Joel) Matkosky of Elmira Heights, NY; Joann (Kevin Webster) Force also of Elmira Heights, NY; sister-in-law, Vera Flint; grandchildren, Michael (Michelle) Slaven Jr., Michelle (Paul) Thomas, Lisa (Scott) Steele, Kathy (Tony) Forcier, Brandon Matkosky and Jennifer Matkosky, Jeremy, Kristen and Ryan Force; along with 9 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. ?Joe?, as he was affectionately known, retired from Thatcher Glass and then worked for Capabilities for many years. He spent many years also volunteering for the Bath VA Medical Center. ?Joe? was a talented artist, loved playing cards, and was an avid NY Mets fan. He was a Veteran of the US Army and served his country proudly in the China Burma India Theater during WW II. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Thursday, November 14, 2002 from 5 to 7 PM. Funeral Services will be held there at the conclusion of calling hours. (7 PM) with Reverend Howard L. Hunt officiating. Interment will take place on Friday at 10:00 AM in the Maple Grove Cemetery Horseheads, NY where the Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord Mr. Flint full Military Honors.
