THORNELEY, John L. ?Poppy?Age 68 passed away Thursday, February 14, 2002 at St. Joseph?s Hospital In Elmira.Much loved husband of 45 years to Martha Thorneley who survives him.Also surviving are;son Timothy Thorneley of Elmira, NY; daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and John Burgar of Colorado Springs, CO; Kathleen and Jeff O?Leary of Elmira, NY, and Mary and Rob Fabrizio of Geneva, NY;grandchildren; Dean, Yvonne and Zachary Thorneley, Joshua and Jeffrey Burgar, John and Patrick O?Leary, Christine and Steven Fabrizio; nephew, John Evans; sister-in-law, Mary Fetyko, sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan and Tom Owens, Ann and Dewey Marsh and many loved nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his parents and an only sister.John was employed as a tool and die maker with the Bendix Corp. retiring after 30 years of service.He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the US Army. He was an avid NY Giants Football fan, #1 supporter of Elmira Pioneers, a Civil War buff, a collector, a lover of Jazz music, and all of his life he was a proud supporter of the Southside of Elmira.He enjoyed working in and was very meticulous in the care of his lawn.Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, February 18, 2002 from 2 ? 4 and 7 ? 8:30 PM at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira. The funeral and committal service will be held there at 8:30 PM on Monday. Interment will be in Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira at the convenience of the family.
