Dombroski, John III,left this world unexpectedly in his sleep, in his home, which he shared with his wife of 31 years, Esther Marion Dombroski. He was 50 years old. John lives on through the lives of his wife and children. He had two daughters, Amy and Beth, and a son, John. Local, immediate family consists of his three sisters; Dot, Carol and Josephine, along with his brother Rick and his father, John Dombroski, Jr.John grew up on the Southside of Elmira and lived there throughout his life.He was very proud of the home and family he built and shared with his wife.He attended Southside High, Corning Community College and Elmira College.Aside from a stint in the Army National Guard, John was the prototypical, blue-collar Elmiran. He enjoyed the familiarity and security of this city.John was an honest, charismatic and approachable character. He could and would talk to anyone. The majority of his employment was with the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. His free time was mostly enjoyed working on projects around the house, and occasionally visiting his out-of-state children.Despite John?s easygoing, outward, public persona, he suffered inwardly and privately with his own mind throughout his life.Denial, regret, and a renewed communicative relationship with his immediate family, led John to acknowledge his problems and seek help. This act of courage was the highest complimenthe could have ever paid his family and himself. It easily overshadowed the problems of the past.John was a more relaxed person and enjoyed the highest quality of life during his last five years.Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Thursday, June 28, 2001 from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM.Funeral services will be held there on Friday, June 29, 2001 at 11:00 AM.
