Janice A. Bird

August 8, 1939 — January 1, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janice Arlene (Richmond) Bird who left us on January 1, 2024, at the age of 84 in Sayre, PA. She was surrounded by her loving family as she peacefully entered eternal glory to be with her Lord and Savior.

She was known as an encourager and a sacrificial giver. Her spirit of selflessness and devotion knew no bounds as she tirelessly extended herself to uplift others, even at the cost of her own comfort. Her selflessness and compassion were truly admirable.

In addition to being a successful business woman, Janice was a devoted wife, caring mother, and trusted friend. Her loved ones revered her as a beacon of wisdom, a virtuous woman in the likeness of the Mother of Israel (because she was a spiritual mother to so many) and the embodiment of the Proverbs 31 ideals. Janice's impact on the lives she touched will be remembered for generations to come. She truly has left a legacy of changed lives from her family to all the people she came into contact with in her business and church ministry. She loved nature and spending time with her family.

Janice is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Robert Bird. She leaves behind two daughters, Beth Campbell and Marsha Jackson, as well as seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Tim Richmond, and sister, Ruth Ann Guyer. Janice was preceded in death by her brothers, John and Denny Richmond and her parents John and Emma Richmond.

A Memorial service to celebrate Janice's life will be held on January 14th at 2pm, with a viewing beforehand from 1pm to 2pm. The service will take place at Hillcrest Seventh-day Adventist Church 14677 Route 6, Mansfield PA, which is assisting the family during this difficult time.

Janice Arlene Bird will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and love will continue to inspire and impact the lives of all who were fortunate enough to have known her.

In this time of profound loss, the family finds solace in the shared memories, comforting words, and prayers from those who knew and loved Jan. If you wish to send cards, please send to 2459 Co. Rt. 60, Elmira, NY 14901
