James L. Vondracek

PINE CITY – James L. Vondracek, 72, of Pine City, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, December 13, 2020.Born in Elmira on February 1, 1948, he was the son of the late James Vondracek and Herb and Mildred (Oberist) Doan.In 1989, he married Sheila Morse at Westminster Presbyterian Church. For 44 years, James worked for Swift Glass in Elmira Heights, retiring in 2015.Every year, he delivered the Swift Glass Donation to the Arctic League for the past 45 years. James loved entering his cars in classic car shows around the area.He could talk to anyone that approached him about almost anything and he always had time for others in need.More than anything, he cherished the time that he shared with his wife, children and grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Stacy Kinsman and his grandson, Morgan Cloke. He is survived by his wife, Sheila Vondracek of Pine City; his children, Jamie Medel of CA, Rob Kinsman of Elmira, Jenna Rickard of FL, James Vondracek of Elmira; 6 grandchildren; his siblings, Cheryl (David) Mattison of Elmira, Thom (Sheila) Vondracek of Hornell, Stephanie (Harry) Brooks of Alabama, Maryann (Larry) Dean of Elmira, Victor Shepherd of Athens, PA; as well as several nieces, nephew and cousins.
