MILLERTON – James Richard Potter, 85, passed away at his home with his loving wife by his side on February 16, 2022, after an extended illness. Jim was a devoted husband to Anna Coolbaugh Potter, whom was also his soulmate of 65 married years.Together they had 5 children, Darlene (David) Gunderson of Elmira, NY, James M. Potter, Cheryl L. (Dean) Bentley, Marybess (Steve) Hazlett all of Tioga, PA; he was proud of his grandchildren, Bill (Liz) Butterfield, Anna (Yohann) Potier, Tanya Gunderson (Will Miraglia), Tyler (Meghan) Gunderson, Travis (Lisa) Potter, Trevor Potter, Terri (Scott) Richer, Jeremy Gunderson, Tiffany Hazlett; as well as his 9 great-grandchildren.Jim was predeceased by their son, Charles Daniel Potter. Born on August 26, 1936 in Westfield, PA, Jim was the son of the late Carl and Bessie Howard Potter.He worked at McMilliam Bloedel as a Supervisor and retired in 1998. Jim enjoyed playing his guitar and singing at his family reunions and hanging out in his “mancave” in the garage.He loved playing golf and played shortstop in baseball in his younger years.Jim was also a member of the VFW.For the last 6 years, Jim and Ann enjoyed vacations in Florida with his brother-in-law, Ted (Carol) Coolbaugh and visiting with his brother, Joe (Margaret) Potter and Jim’s sister, Betty Bement in Florida. Friends may call from 12-2 pm on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue in Elmira with a service to follow at 2 pm at the funeral home.
