Age 73 of Sycamore Street Elmira, NY passed away Saturday, August 24, 2002 peacefully at Elcor Health Services Horseheads, NY. He was born April 8, 1929 in Elmira, the son of the late Ernest L. and Gladys E. (Sullivan) Collins. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Ann Vaughn; son, Christopher J. Collins; brothers, John ?Jackie?, Kenneth and Ernest Collins. James is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Betty (Moody); sons, Rick Collins of Binghamton, NY; David Collins of Nichols, NY; Jay (Robin) Collins of Tallahassee, FL; James (Pamela) Collins Jr. of Whitney Point, NY; Patrick (Bonnie) Collins of Breesport, NY; step-sons, Kevin (Linda) Collins of Baltimore, MD; Robert (Linda) Collins of Elmira, NY; Kerry (Debra) Collins of Johnson City, NY; Charles Collins of Elmira, NY; Keith Collins of Candor, NY; daughter-in-law, Lois Collins of Las Vegas, NV; special friend, Darlene Preshur of Nichols, NY; brother, Edward ?Sonny? (Lucy) Collins of Greenville, OH; sisters, Margaret Emmanuel of Elmira, NY; Jeanette Fedderman also of Elmira, NY; along with 14 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, 4 great granddaughters, several nieces and nephews. James retired from the Hilliard Corp. after 23 years of faithful service as an equipment assembler. In his spare time, he was an avid ham radio operator and CB-er. Mr. Collins was the President and a member of the Blind Bowling League. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping. At his request there will be no prior calling hours. Interment will take place in the Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family. A ?Candle of Memory? may be lit in James?s name at www.olthof.com.
