Age 79 of Kendall Place Elmira, NY passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at St. Joseph?s Hospital. He was born May 7, 1923 in Glasgow, Scotland the son of the late James and Sarah (McCourt) Carlin. James married Margaret McNamee in July of 1947 in Glasgow, Scotland. They have celebrated 55 wonderful years of life and love together. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; beloved son and daughter-in-law, Lt. Col. James D. and Linnea Carlin of the United States Air Force stationed in Montgomery AL; adored grandchildren, Jay A. Carlin and Krista Lee Carlin both of Montgomery, AL; brother, John (Martha) Carlin of Seattle, WA; sister, Ella C. Warner of Littleton, CO; nieces, Bonnie Llewellen and Gail Warner; great niece, Morgan Llewellen. James was a Veteran of the Royal Air Force proudly serving his country in India and Africa during WW II. He retired from the American Bridge in Elmira Heights after 36 years of faithful and dedicated service. He was a member of the Masonic Temple Union-Cooley Lodge # 95 F & AM Elmira, member of the Eagles Club # 941 Elmira, and also a member of the Scottish American Society. James was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling. It was the request of James that there be no prior services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc.
