Jack H. "Butch" Mathers

Jack H. "Butch" Mathers Age 79, of Elmira, NY passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at home. Jack was born January 18, 1939 in Elmira, the son of the late Howard and Marion (Shappee) Mathers Sr. Jack was predeceased by brothers: Howard Jr., Joseph and Gary Mathers; sisters: Patricia Hills and Phyllis Tolbert. He is survived by companion: Mona Gee; sisters: Jane Durfee and Virginia Carboni, both of Elmira, NY; beloved children: sons and daughter-in-law: Jack "Chip" and Susan Mathers Jr. and Sean Mathers of Elmira, NY; daughters and son-in-laws: Susan and Harry Smith, Brenda and Mark Watts, Debbie and Daryl Allington all of Pine City, NY; Kimberly "Charlie" Mathers of Erin, NY; as well as 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandson, "Remey", several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of caring friends. Jack spent most of his life as a self employed contractor. He loved playing with his cars and spent many hours in his garage. But most of all he loved the time spent with his family and cherished all the moments spent with all the children and grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport, NY on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral services celebrating his life will follow the visitation at 7 pm. Reverend Richard Hack will officiate. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of his family in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
