Isaac Frank "Ike" Edmister Age 76, was born July 9, 1941 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Clifford and Helen Louise (Maine) Edmister passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center after a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer. His sister, Sharon Taylor, brother, William Edmister and daughter, Cindy Huffner also preceded him in death. Ike is survived by his loving companion of 38 years, Ella "Ellie" Savey; children: Wendy (Bob) Saylor, Terri (Richard) Holley and Joanne Edmister (Darryl); step-children: Darlene (Dee) Savey and Billi Jo (Nicholas) Bartone; along with 24 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Ike is also survived by brothers: Morris (Thelma) Edmister and David (Chole) Edmister; along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Mr. Edmister was a veteran of the United States Air Force and proudly served his country. He owned and operated Ike's Body Shop on the corner of Pennsylvania Ave. and Spaulding Streets for 45 years. He was a race car driver at many of the local tracks and raced many times with and against Geoff Bodine. He was a huge NASCAR fan and always rooted for the late Dale Earnhardt, driver of the legendary # 3. Ike loved fishing especially on the Great Lakes and loved his boat, "Miss Ellie." He loved his Bassett hounds and was an avid horse lover. Family and friends are invited to attend Graveside Services for Ike on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 1:00 pm in the Rural Home Cemetery South Hibbard Road Big Flats, NY. Lay Pastor John P. Knapp will officiate and the Chemung County Veteran's Honor Guard will accord Mr. Edmister with Military Honors.
