Age 92, formerly of 309 Broadway Street, Elmira, NY passed away on Friday, January 17, 2003 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. He was born August 5, 1910 in Bath, NY, the son of the late Ralph M. and Helen G. (Crammer) Frisbie. Herbert was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul, Harland and Charles; grandson, T. J. Spurling; and loving wife of 49 years, Julia. He is survived by his beloved children, daughter, Linda Frisbie Spurling of Florence, SC; sons and daughters-in-law, William and Gail Norwood of Elmira, NY; H. Benjamin and Linda Frisbie of Apalachin, NY; Harland and Wendy Frisbie of Cohocton, NY; Dean and Susan Frisbie of Horseheads, NY; adored grandchildren, Kimberly and Robert Norwood, Alicia (Charlie) Street, Amanda Spurling, Shannon, Andy, Holly, Jessica, Brandon and Cameron Frisbie; great grandchildren, Alex and Kirsten Street. Mr. Frisbie was a cook in many area hotels, restaurants and country clubs. He retired as a skilled machinist from Trayer Products in 1969 after several years of dedicated service. Herb? s interests included: genealogy, local history, gardening, cooking and baking for family and friends. He worked tirelessly to gain recognition for Rufus Stanley, an Elmira resident and early contributor to the formation of 4-H Clubs. Herb was lovingly committed to his family and friends, especially his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Tuesday, January 21, 2003 from 12:00 ? 1:00 PM. A Memorial Service celebrating his life and honoring his memory will be held at the conclusion of the visitation at 1 PM.
