Henry Hubschmitt

Henry S. Hubschmitt, Age 79, of the Town of Horseheads, NY passed away Saturday, August 3, 2024 at the Corning Guthrie Hospital. Henry was born October 25, 1944 in Passaic, NJ son of the late Elbert and Lillian (Goodell) Hubschmitt. He enlisted in the US Army in 1964, served his country in the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged in 1967. He was married to the late Eleanor L. (Lesky) Hubschmitt who predeceased him on April 24, 2024. Henry was retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital where he worked in Lab Services. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and could fix anything.

Surviving is his daughter, Lillian (Marcos) Cruz, sons, Bruce (Justin) Hubschmitt, Michael Hubschmitt, Thomas Hubschmitt, Elbert Hubschmitt, all of Elmira, several grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a brother, Wayne (Maureen) Hubschmitt of Elmira, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Eleanor, and several siblings.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY 14904, and to gather at the funeral home the following Monday, August 12, at 11:45 PM to process to Bath National Cemetery, in Bath, New York for a graveside service and the presentation of military honors to begin at 1:00 PM.
