Helen A. Roote

Helen A. (Freer) Roote passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 10, 2020. Helen was born was born in Crosby, PA on March 14, 1926, to the late Lucius and Rena Freer. Helen is predeceased by her parents; her husband of 46 years, Donald R. Roote in 1992; an infant brother, James Freer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Laverne Freer, Gordon and Elizabeth (Betty) Freer; daughter, Linda L. (Roote) Stillman and her husband, Richard Stillman; infant granddaughter, Nancy Stillman; grandson, Boyd J. Carlyle; and brother-in-law, Donald Burrows. She is survived by her daughters, Alice Roote (Wayne Brubaker), Cathleen (Joseph) Carlyle; son, Cecil (Donna) Roote; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; brother, Leroy (Sandra) Freer; sister, Alice (Freer) Burrows; and several cousins. Helen moved to Elmira, NY in 1945 and began work at Remington Rand. She then went to work for Eclipse Machine Company, and then Moore Business Forms from which she retired in 1981. Helen enjoyed her family, bowling, crafts, reading, puzzles, and her flowers. After their retirement, Donald and Helen spent many years camping and traveling to visit family and friends. There will be no calling hours. Her funeral and burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
