Gwendoline â??Marie�? Root

Our beloved Marie, age 94, met her Lord and Saviour on Saturday, March 8, 2003. She was loved by all who knew her. A devout Christian and prayer warrior, Marie, her brother Hubert, and parents Joseph and Claire Parsons sailed on S.S. Celtic to Elmira, NY in 1913 from Strethwick, England. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold G. Root December 24, 1984. She is survived by her two beloved sons and daughter-in-laws, Perry and Joanne Root of Polk City, FL; Eugene and Louise Root of Horseheads, NY; brother, Hubert Parsons of Bellaire Beach, FL; brother-in-law, Charles Malcolm of Elmira, NY; sister and brother-in-law, Lucile and A. W. Leahy of Stuart, FL; sister-in-law, Leona Linehan of Tampa, FL; along with 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Marie was a longtime member of the Southside Baptist Church and most recently Christian Faith Fellowship Church. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Thursday, March 13, 2003 from 1-3 and 6-8 PM. Funeral and Committal Services will be there at the conclusion of calling hours. (8:00 PM) The Reverend James Crupi will officiate. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will provide their own flowers and would appreciate contributions to: Christian Faith Fellowship Church, P.
