Grace Wheeler Mitstifer Age 88, of Cayuta, NY, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017 atArnot Ogden Medical Center.Grace was born March 15, 1929 in Big Flats, NY, the daughter of the late William and Alvaretta (Avery) Wheeler.Grace was a life-time homemaker.There was always something on the table to eat when you went to her house! Grace loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them.She loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens! Grace was predeceased by husband Walter F. Mitstifer Sr. on January 16, 2006, they were married 58 years. Son, George Earl Mitstifer October 4, 2013;brothers, Earl (Kate) Wheeler, William J. Jr. (Louise) Wheeler; sisters, Lena (Thomas Reed), Edith (Jarvis) Keenon. Grace is survived by her loving children:Walter F. (Patricia) Mitstifer Jr. of Cayuta NY; Ralph (Barbara) Mitstifer of Cayuta NY; Marlene (Gary) Little of Horseheads NY; Deborah Mitstifer daughter in-law (George) of Spring Hill, FL; Clayton (Betty) Mitstifer of Alpine, NY; Clara (Paul) Merrick of Cayuta, NY; Mary (Bryan) Benjamin Sr. of Cayuta, NY; 17 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of caring friends and neighbors.Best friends:Shelva Carl and Joy Crosby. A special thanks to all of Bethany Courtyard Staff and CareFirst Hospice Staff for their outstanding care and also for Shelva Carl’s extended companionship.Thank you all from our entire family.It was very much appreciated. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service for Grace on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Sullivanville Methodist Church, 69 Old Sullivanville Rd., Horseheads, NY 14845. Reverend Kevin Austin will officiate. Burial services at family’s convenience in Maple Grove Cemetery .
