Age 91 of Grove Street and formerly of West Water Street Elmira, NY passed away on Monday, October 14, 2002 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was born October 23, 1910 in Elmira, the daughter of the late Frank B. and Grace I. (Bliss) Harris. Grace is survived by her loving sister, Frances L. Hawke of Syracuse, NY; brother, Frank B. Harris of Bath, NY; along with three nieces and one nephew. Grace graduated from Elmira Free Academy; attended several years of ballet school, and performed in New York City for the New York Ballet. In the late 30?s and early 40?s she also performed on Broadway at the Roxy Theater as a line dancer, similar to that of the Radio City Rockettes. She spent two years in Kenya, Africa with the Peace Corps and served as secretary to that nation?s Bishop. Grace worked and retired from Corning Glass Works after several years of faithful and dedicated service. She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church and worked diligently with several of the programs in the church. Grace was also a member of the Chemung County Historical Society. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service celebrating her life on Tuesday, October 22, 2002 at 3:00 PM. The Rev. Dr. William Lutz will officiate. Interment will take place in the Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
