Gladys A. Friends

Gladys A. (Horton) Friends Gateway II Restaurant Employee Age 67 of Millerton, Pennsylvania, passed away very unexpectedly Monday, June 17th, 2002. Gladys was the beloved daughter of the late Jesse J. Horton and Isabella A. Brockway Horton. She was born in Tioga, PA, June 15th, 1935. Gladys is survived by her husband Glenn L. Friends with whom she shared forty loving years. Also surviving Gladys is her step-mother, whom she loved, Agnes Horton.She was blessed with two wonderful and beautiful daughters; Gaylene A. Page (Bruce Sterling) and Gina L. (James) Westervelt, three beloved grandchildren; Gregory A. Page, Michael G. Westervelt, Jessica R. Westervelt, sister; Glenda M. (Ken) Greenwalt, brother; James Horton, and several beloved nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY Friday, June 21st, 2002 from 1:00 to 3:00PM and 6:00 to 8:00PM. Funeral and Committal services will be held there at the conclusion of calling hours at 8:00PM. John P. Knapp will officiate. Gladys was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. For many years she worked for the Lawrenceville Telephone Co. as an operator, most recently she was known for the wonderful breakfasts she made as the waitress at the Gateway II in Millerton, PA.She was an avid Bingo player who loved her many trips to Casino Niagara, and she was always ready to go to Atlantic City. In between the many trips, scratch-off tickets kept her attention along with making the many different colored doilies which she would make to order for all. Those wishing may make memorials in lieu of flowers to a charity of one?s choice, or donate a plant or tree to Gladys? family for a memorial garden, giving life to them beyond her loss.
