ELMIRA – Gilberto Torres Cuevas, 68, of Elmira, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.Born on July 6, 1953 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Angel Luis Torres and Rosa Elena Cardona Cruz. Gilberto enjoyed playing dominos and listening to Spanish music.He loved his truck and took pride in keeping it in great condition.More than anything, he cherished the time that he shared with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved wife and high school sweetheart, Frances L. Cuevas Santiago; his children, Jessie Torres of NJ, Victor Recio of Bronx, NY, Natalie Recio of Washingtonville, NY, Grace (Sean) McCann of Pine City, Rosa (Timothy) Fleming of Brooklyn; his grandchildren, Nicole and Mariah Ortiz, Audrianah McCann, Emilie Recio, Daniella McCann, Baby Girl Fleming; his sister, Margarita Torres; his brother, Angel Luis (Sonya) Torres, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 3-6 pm on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue in Elmira with a service to follow at 6 pm.Burial will take place at 10 am on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 in Rural Home Cemetery in Horseheads, NY.
