George E. Sheely

Age 82 of Fairport, NY passed away Friday, January 10, 2003 at the Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, NY. He was born April 12, 1920 in Elmira, the son of the late Charles and Bertha (Roberts) Sheely. George is survived by his special friend and companion, Betty Lanning of Victor, NY; loving children, sons, George (Nora) Sheely; Charles (Sherrie) Sheely; Samuel Sheely all of Elmira, NY; daughters, Bertha (Dennis) Cunningham of Mainesburg, PA; Adele (David) Baer of Binghamton, NY; mother of their children, Mabel Baldwin of Elmira, NY; along with 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 niece. George owned and operated the family business, Sheely Brothers Florist, formerly on Walnut Street, for many years. He was a Veteran of the US Navy and proudly served his country during WW II receiving several medals for excellence. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. on Tuesday, January 14, 2003 from 4:30 ? 6:30 PM. Funeral Services will be held there at the conclusion of calling hours. (6:30 PM) The Reverend Howard Hunt will officiate. Interment will take place on Wednesday in the Woodlawn National Cemetery where full Military Honors will be accorded Mr. Sheely by the Chemung County Veterans Honors Squad.
