Genevieve L. Squires

ELMIRA – Genevieve L. Squires, 83, of Elmira, passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021.Born on March 1, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Lucille (Verbridge) Burrell.She graduated from Addison High School in 1956.On June 11, 1960, she married the love of her life, Bert N. Squires. Genevieve enjoyed ceramics, knitting, crocheting, cooking and gardening.She loved her cats that she had adopted over the years.More than anything, she cherished the time that she shared with her family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Mildred Burrell King and Leo Burrell, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Bert N. Squires of Elmira; her son, James (Maureen) Squires of Corning; her daughter, Linda Naples (Jerry) of Mount Morris; her grandsons, Joshua and Jeremiah Squires of Elmira; her siblings, Eileen (Richard) Parker, Steve (Linda) Burrell; several nieces, nephew and cousins; and her best friend, Bonnie Butler of Elmira. Friends may call from 11:30 am-12:30pm on Monday, December 13, 2021 at Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. in Elmira with a service to follow at the funeral home.Burial will take place in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Elmira.
