Gary William Zack

ZACK, Gary William, Age 53 of Elmira, NY passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.
Gary was born February 19, 1970 in NAS Patuxent River, Maryland to Gary Paul and Sharon (Foster) Zack.
He was a 1988 graduate of Southside High School, where he lettered in multiple sports. Gary was a huge NASCAR, Denver Broncos, Dallas Cowboys, and NY Yankees fan.  He loved playing darts and ran a dart league for a number of years. He was very proud of the fact that even though he didn’t golf much, he had a hole in one at Tomasso’s Golf Course, an achievement that his father hasn’t accomplished yet.
He started his working career at John G. Ryan, Inc. and left when he helped set up the first Wal-Mart store in Big Flats.  He was employed by Wal-Mart for over 21 years in several stores in Supervisory and Department Management positions.
Gary is survived by his parents; sister Paula Zack; nephew Zack DeHaas; niece Brianna (John Horrocks) Aspell; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; best friends, Lisa, Vicki, John M, and John Z; and a host of friends.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Ave, Elmira, NY on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 5 to 6 PM with a Memorial Service immediately following.
Gary had a soft heart, loved all animals, and was everyone’s friend.  In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial donations in his name to the Kramer Foundation, 3171 Watkins Rd., Horseheads, NY 14845 or the Elmira Animal Shelter, 842 Linden Place Ext , Elmira, NY 14901.
