Gary R. Savard, Sr.

November 29, 1931 – July 17, 2022

of Horseheads, NY, went to the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 17, 2022. Gary is joining the love of his life, Valeda (Vi) Savard, whom he was wed to for 65 years. Surviving children are Donna (Dirk) Snyder of NC, Rick Savard of FL, Robin Savard of Horseheads, NY, Catherine Savard Case of Elmira, NY, and Andrea Lopez of Horseheads, NY. He was blessed with a lovely family including grandchildren, William Snyder, Brandi Pressley, Tracy Savard, Kelly Vetrino, Ashley Savard, Michele Poirier, Amanda Rose, Morgan Fillipetti, Zachary Roush, Sara Coleman, Seth Case, Brianna and Elijah Lopez; 18 great-grandchildren.

Gary and Vi lived in many places, but raised their children in Watkins Glen. Gary loved to play golf and was a member of the Elk’s Club. He worked for Nationwide Insurance for 30 years, retiring as a Regional Sales Superintendent. His desire to be successful enabled him to help others find their potential and set goals for success. Gary loved his family and was fiercely devoted to his wife. He was very dedicated to his faith and had been known to find a church before a hotel when traveling. Gary spent his last few years at Elcor Nursing Home and the family would like to thank the staff for his wonderful care.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at St. Patrick's Church, 604 Park Place in Elmira.  Rite of Committal will follow in St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery in Elmira.   To leave online condolences, please visit www.olthof.com.
