Gary Carl Mortensen

Gary Carl Mortensen, age 84, of Horseheads, NY, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020. Gary was born in Canandaigua, NY to the late Otto and Mary Mortensen, on May 15, 1936. He attended Victor High School and graduated in 1954. He attended the University of Rochester. Gary worked at Xerox Corporation for 26 years, Rochester Newspapers and was a real estate agent. Most importantly, he was a hard-working father who helped to raise five children and was a foster parent to many others. He loved all sports and spending time with his family. Gary is predeceased by his wife, Carol; brother, Paul; and a grandson, Paul Lee. Gary is survived by his daughters, Karen Merkle and Mary (Mike) Robinson; sons, Bob (Debi), Brian (Georgia), and Bill (Janet); nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Elcor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Horseheads, NY for their long-term care of their father.
