Franklin Henry Crater Sr.

Franklin H. Crater, Sr., a native of Millheim, PA and long-time resident of Elmira, NY passed away on January 1, 2024. He was 92.

He was preceded in death by: his wife Joan (VanHorn) Crater; son Michael VanHorn; daughter Joan Crater; and grandson Franklin Crater, III.

He is survived by: his children – Franklin (Diane) Crater, Jr. of Florida, Chuck (Marianne) VanHorn of Florida, Richard VanHorn of New York, James Crater of New York, Shawn (Machelle) Crater of New York, Christopher Crater of Ohio; and several grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to calling hours at Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Ave in Elmira on Thursday, January 11, 2024 beginning at 10 AM until his funeral service begins at 12 PM. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery where military honors will be rendered.
