Lewis, Franklin D. Grounds Foreman Age 58 of North Main Street Elmira, NY. Passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 23, 2001 at home surrounded by his loving and caring family. He was born December 20, 1942 in Blossburg, PA the son of the late Charles J. and Charlotte L. (Meise) Lewis. Fanklin married Nancy White on November 19, 1977. They have enjoyed 23 wonderful years of marriage together. His brothers, Joseph, Irvin and Archie, predeceased him. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; daughter, Teresa Tornari with husband Jeff Carey of Watkins Glen, NY; son, Joel (Helaine) Tornari of Baltimore, MD; brothers, Charles of Nunda, NY; Harry of North Chili, NY; Lester of Allentown, PA; George of Bolivar, PA; sisters, Mary of Brownsville, TX; Polly, Cathy, Sara, Florence and Hazel all of Elmira, NY; grandchildren, Lexy Carey, Mattea Tornari and Louisa Tornari, along with several nieces, nephews and companion ?Tyler? the cat. ?Frank? as all affectionately knew him was the Grounds Foreman for 35 years at Elmira College. For the past 3 years was the Grounds Foreman for St. Anthony/St. Patrick Churches. He was a Veteran of the US Army and a past member of the American Legion Bentley Trumble Post in Horseheads, NY. ?Frank? was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed golfing and bowling. He will be missed by all and remembered by all for being big hearted, hard working and for being a ?gentle giant?. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Friday, October 26, 2001 from 10:00 to 12:00 (noon). Funeral Services will be held there at the conclusion of calling hours. (12 noon) The Reverend Walter Wainwright will officiate. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery where the Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord full Military Honors to Mr. Lewis. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations in Franklin?s name be directed to Southern Tier Hospice 244 W. Water Street Elmira, NY 14901 or to the American Cancer Society 627 Church Street 14901. A ?Candle of Memory? may be lit in memory of ?Frank? at www.olthof.com.
