Francis Michael Weaver

Francis Michael Weaver Horseheads - Francis Michael "Mick(y)" Weaver, age 82 of Horseheads, died on March 4, 2021. A lifelong tennis enthusiast, Mick opened the Twin Tier Racquet Club in 1974 and operated it for the next forty-two years. Mick was a graduate of Elmira Southside High School and Elmira College. He married Elmira native, Maureen J. Wilcox, in 1962 and they had three children. They taught in public schools prior to launching their indoor tennis business. He loved family gatherings, "noodling" melodies on the piano, listening to Western Swing music, and following tennis tournaments as well as his collegiate favorites, Syracuse basketball and Notre Dame football. Mick was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick J. and Anna R. (McDermott) Weaver, and his siblings, John, Joseph, Peggy, Bill, David, Tony, and Mary (Harrison) Weaver. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Maureen, his son, Francis Michael, Jr., and his daughter Cassandra (Hotchkiss) Weaver. Mick is survived by his daughter Cynthia (Dale Ottosen), his son-in-law Doug Hotchkiss, his grandchildren Morgan McCormick, Aaron Wida, Julia Weaver, Elise Hotchkiss, Corinne Hotchkiss, and his great-grandchildren Bailey McCormick and Logan McCormick. The family plans to hold a memorial service for Mick in a few months, when circumstances are more conducive to public gatherings. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the sum total of human kindness. Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Tuesday, November, 2, 2021 at Illegal Tap House, 200 East Church Street, Elmira, NY 14901 from 5:30pm til 7:30pm.
