Frances A. Henderson

ELMIRA - Frances A. Henderson, 86, passed away peacefully at the Chemung County Nursing Home, Elmira, NY , on January 26, 2021, after a lengthy illness with dementia.She was born on Jan. 9, 1935, in Penn Yan, NY, the daughter of Frank and Eleanor (Comfort) Dewater. Predeceased by her husband Craig Henderson in 1999.Survived by her sons, James C. (Holly) Henderson and Scott G. (Penny) Henderson; grandchildren, Tyler J. (Kristen) Henderson and Rebecca C. Henderson; brother, Marvin (Fran) Dewater; sisters, Rosemary (Rick) Breese, and Joann Fretz; sister-in-law, Catherine Dewater and many nieces and nephews.Predeceased by her dear brother, Gifford Dewater, sister, Sylvia Hansen and step brothers, John & Ben Lentz; brothers-in-law, Richard Fretz and Jack Hansen. Fran worked at W.T. Grant and Lovedays Card Shop and was a wonderfulhomemaker who took loving care of her husband during his many years of illness.She loved gardening, cooking, baking, crocheting & being a grandmother.Fran obtained the highest award given to a woman volunteer in the Boy Scouts of America; the Bronze Plaque.She was known as sweet Fran our “angel on earth.”The family sincerely appreciates and thanks the staff at CCNF 4th floor and Woodbrook Assisted Living for their Loving Care.
