Eugene Floyd Adams, 101, of Horseheads, NY passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017.He was born in Leonardsville, NY, on August 30, 1916, to Florence (Reardon) and Floyd Adams.His wife, Beatrice, predeceased him in 2002.He was employed at the Remington Rand in Elmira from 1936 -1970, then worked in maintenance for Chemung Canal. He hiked and hunted all over South Mountain, Connecticut Hill, and the Adirondacks; fished on Seneca Lake and Catherine Creek; played horseshoes, and bowled many a 600+ back when that was a great score. Gene and Bea were exceptional grandparents.Their grandchildren have many fond memories of swimming, skiing, playing in the woods, & nightly fires for roasting marshmallows before bed in the boathouse.They also loved the New Years’ Eves sledding down the hill to the cottage and building a fire in the snow to roast hot dogs.While visiting Gram & Pop at home, the grandchildren might find a tent set up in the living room where they could eat popcorn & watch television. Bingo games, Bicycle rides, Roller Skating, & Ice Skating were regular entertainment Gene is survived by his daughters, Brenda (Ed) Campbell, Donna Adams & Michael Cain; grandchildren, Karen (Steve) Parsons, Laura (Jeff)Davies, Eric Golden, Paul (Heather) Campbell, Julia (Dane) Conway, and Deborah Rypkema;great grandchildren, Eric, Daniel, Josh, Michael, Aaron, Ryan, Alex, Austin, Eliza, Reese Bea, Mikayla, and Tyler; seven great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Bev, nieces Joyce, Anne, Joan, Marsha, and Holly; nephews, Mike, Tom, Dave, and Joe. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
