Esther A. (Stickler) Blew, a native of South Corning, NY and resident of Elmira, NY passed away on May 22, 2024. She was 94.
Esther was a retired quality control inspector for Thatcher Glass in Elmira Heights. She also served her community by volunteering. She was a talented crocheter, and an avid gardener who was an active member of the Elmira Garden Club. She was also a passionate reader with an impressive collection that included Harlequin novels and anything by Danielle Steele and Louis L'Amour. But above all, her main interests in life encompassed home and family, especially spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents Mack and Lila (Lewis) Stickler; her husband of 43 years, George W. Blew; her brothers - Kenneth, Melvin, and Rexford Stickler; and her sisters - Cleoral Lovell, Bonnielyn King, Evangeline Sease, Stella Frantellizzi, and Joy Dugan.
She is survived by: her children - Helen Keir, Laura (David) Gillis; Barbara Blew, David Blew, and Tammie Blew;
her grandchildren - Rebecca and Kathryn, Shannon, Justin, Kali and Heather, and Daniel, Natashia, Brittany, and Miranda; her 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue in Elmira for calling hours on Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 10:00 am until 11:00 AM when her funeral service will begin. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1200 Walnut Street in Elmira will follow immediately.
