Elsie L. Mcwhorter

Age 88 of Gillett, PA, passed away unexpectedly at the Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Illinois on Tuesday, January 21, 2003. Elsie was born August 1, 1914 in Elmira Heights, NY, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Julia Smith Leonard. She was predeceased by her husband, Sterling J. McWhorter; son, Gordon McWhorter; and sister, Marie Harding. Elsie is survived by her children, Vernon (Elnora) McWhorter of Millerton, PA, and Marilyn (Frank) Grace of Grays Lake, IL; 9 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Elsie is a member of the Mosheville Bible Church, was a former employee of the Armour Food Co, a volunteer for many years at RSVP, and enjoyed ceramics and painting. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Friday, January 24, 2003 from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM, and Saturday the 25th from 1 to 2 PM. Funeral and committal services will follow at 2PM with the Rev. Lewis Newkirk officiating. Interment will be in the Gillett Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
