Eloise Mosher Allen

Allen, Eloise MosherLife-long Presbyterian Age 95 formerly of 609 Chester Street for 86 years. Passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2001 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility, Elmira, NY. Eloise was the wife of Cecil C. Allen and were married for 61 years at his death on December 13, 1991 at the age of 91. She was born October 18, 1905 in Sylvania, PA the daughter of the late Clarence Peck and Bertha (McClelland) Mosher. They moved to Elmira in 1906. Eloise graduated from Elmira Free Academy in 1924. She worked at Lewis Brothers Wholesale Jewelers for 10 years, and then Deister & Butler Jewelers for 30 years. Eloise and Cecil traveled extensively after their retirements; Canada, Alaska, Mexico, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Spain, France, Italy and Turkey. She was very active in senior citizens organizations like RSVP; she knitted hundreds of baby caps, mittens, scarves and other clothing items as a volunteer. Eloise is survived by a nephew, Richard (Marilyn) Allen of Binghamton, NY and Naples, FL; cousins, Mary Elizabeth (Joseph) Welch of Richmond, VA; Phyllis Jean Besley (George) Sutton of Roseland, NJ; Richard D. (Linda) Besley of Columbia Cross Roads, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Tuesday, June 12, 2001 from 10 to 11 AM. Funeral and Committal Services will be held there at the conclusion of calling hours. (11:00 AM) The Reverend Cathy S. Black will officiate. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery beside her husband and parents at the convenience of the family.
