Ellen C. Good

Good, Ellen Celia 94, of Big Flats, NY died on, October 31, 2022, at home surrounded by her love ones. She was born to Hugh and Katheryn Houser in Elmira, NY, on June 7, 1928. She graduated from Millerton High School in 1946. After graduation, she attended Mansfield State College, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. She went on to earn a Master's Degree in teaching from Cortland State College. Ellen taught music and then kindergarten in the school districts of Pennsbury, Elkland, and Corning/Painted Post. She grew up on a farm in Millerton, PA and even though her life took many turns, her heart was always at the farm. Ellen loved to play piano and had a beautiful singing voice. She was very active in her church, the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Corning, and for many years, sang in the church choir. She was also an avid reader and loved to listen to classical music all day long. Ellen was predeceased by her parents, and her husband, James Good. She is survived by her son, Matthew (Katheryn) of Dallas, TX, her daughter, Katheryn of Sparkill, NY, her cousins, Sandra Lerner, Jerry Niles, Linda Faber, Virginia Niles-Schaffer, Chris Niles, and several nieces and nephews. Following Ellen’s wishes, a graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
