ELMIRA - Elizabeth (Betty) Oliver, 94, of Elmira, NY, passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Elcor Nursing Facility. She was born on December 27, 1926 in Susquehanna, PA, the daughter of the late Rexford and Sadie (Hatherill) Oliver. Betty graduated from Southside High School.After graduation, she went on to become a telephone operator with New York Telephone, Elmira, NY, earning numerous awards for her 40 years of dedicated service. Betty was never married or had children, but her nephew, Scott Kay, was the light of her life. Scotty took phenomenal care of his Aunt Betty every single day, calling her his second mom. She is survived by her sisters, Pearl Kay and Martha Yeomans both of Elmira, NY; nephew, Scott Kay (Brenda Brown) of Elmira, NY; nieces, Kathryn (Alan) Williams, of Blairsville, GA, Carol (Michael) Hoelbrandt of Henryville, IN, Sandra (Preston) Pereschuk of Smithsburg, MD; great-nieces, Taryn (Kyle) Wyvel, Mattie (Brian) Celetti; great-nephew, Michael F. Hoelbrandt; great-great-niece, Miranda Pierce; great-great-nephews, Anthony Celetti and Brian Daniel Celetti; niece-in-law, Carolyn (Cari) Yeomans, Elmira, NY. Besides her parents, Betty was predeceased by her brothers, George and John (Carmella) Oliver; sister, Marge (Frank) Bird; nephew Rex Yeomans; brother-in-law, Frank Yeomans. Betty was a gentle lady.She was a private individual who loved her family unconditionally.She loved cooking, shopping, celebrating the holidays, especially Christmas.She greeted everyone with a beautiful smile.Her wish was not to have services, but to celebrate each and every day on earth.A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
