Edward Steven “Ed” Harrison, Elmira, NY, age 70, ended his earthly journey and entered eternal life on April 8, 2018. Ed was born on November 19, 1947 to George S. and Eleanor C. Harrison, with whom he lived for over 57 years. For the past 13 years, he has resided at the ARC group residence in Pine City. His life journey is a testament to the efforts of many to bring care and treatment to the disabled within the community. Ed has been involved with ARC, Southern Tier Industries, New Beginnings Methodist Church, Elcor Day Program, Clemens Center, and United Cerebral Palsy, among others. He has enjoyed dining out, bowling, swimming, dancing, and most any activity involving interaction with other people. Ed is survived by his brother, George and sister-in-law Virginia Harrison of Halfmoon, NY , nephew Zachary (Evon) Harrison of Park City, Utah, Kylee Thompson of Las Vegas, niece Olivia Harrison Claypool of Ballston Lake, NY and great niece and nephew Emma Claypool and Jacob Claypool of Ballston Lake, NY. Also remembered are very many friends and caregivers spanning Ed’s seventy years whose devotion, caring, and dedication have enhanced his life enormously. We especially want to recognize the outstanding love and caring of the Pine City ARC staff. We also appreciate the support and assistance of Care First. Ed has been both a teacher and a learner of the human condition and life experiences. He has demonstrated love, caring, kindness, tenacity, and compassion. A Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held on Sunday, April 15, 3:00 pm at New Beginnings Methodist Church, Miller St, Elmira.
