Earl R. Fleming

Earl Robert Fleming, Father, Husband, and FriendAge 93 of Elmira, NY, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Earl, Bob, to his long time friends, was born December 17, 1923 in Elmira Heights, NY to the late Earl Edward Fleming and Cora Mae Shoemaker.He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Ruth Brown Fleming, and his sister, Lenore Conklin. He is survived by daughters, Susan (Daniel) Smith Tripp of Elmira, Joyce Winton (Roy E. Reed) of Elmira, and Barbara (David) Lord of Horseheads; grandchildren, Shane G. (Stephanie) Smith of Denver, CO; Meara Smith of Corning, NY; Erinn (Yuri) Charlanow of Pine City, NY; Roger (Nicole) Winton of Elmira; Connie (Richard) LaVere of Elmira; Mary (Shaun) Swarthout of Elmira; Carrie (Matthew) Spencer of Erin, NY; and Robert (Amanda) Lord of Elmira, NY; 15 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Doris "Betsy" Knight of Bradford, PA; and several nieces and nephews along with his special friend, Donna Sams. Earl was a hard worker, sometimes working 3 jobs at a time to provide for his family.He was employed by the City of Elmira for many years.Earl was also an amateur radio operator (K2HNL) and enjoyed providing communication for local events and also provided communication during the flood of 1972.The family would like to thank Chris Holmes for the care and friendship she has provided to him, and Charles Spence and his family for their friendship and love. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. with funeral services immediately following at 7:00 pm.Rev.
