PINE CITY - Dorothy May (Quinn) Orme, 94, of Pine City died on May 8, 2023. Born on November 16, 1928 in Romulus, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harry William and Helen Elizabeth (Huff) Quinn,
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sons, Stephen Cole, Joseph Gott, and David Orme, her husbands, Charles Cole and Ernest Frank Orme; and her brother, Melvin Quinn.
She is survived by her daughters, Priscilla Lynne Cole Gott, Helen (Butch) Innes Purdue, Darlene (David) Miller, Honor Heart, Roxanne Orme, Helen Pausenwein, and Judy Margeit; her sons, Nelson (Sue) Orme and Ernest (Cheyenne) Kingsbury and special nephew, Richard Quinn.
She graduated from Ovid High School, Corning Community College, Mansfield University, and Elmira College with 2 Master degrees. She worked for Westinghouse before retiring to work for Chemung County. She worked several jobs before retiring as a senior Probation Officer.
She belonged to many organizations. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and then United Baptist Church in Elmira. After she retired, she would spend her winters in Florida with special thanks to Helen Pausewein. She bought a house at Lodi Point to spend her summers.
Special thanks to Joyce and Robert Robinson and Judy Margeit. In her final years she stayed with her daughter in Pine City with her granddaughter Jannaya Scott and great-grandchildren, John William Joseph and Jasmine Scott helping to take care of her. Her graveside service will be held on June 2, 2023, at 11 AM at Woodlawn National Cemetery,1825 Davis Street, Elmira New York 14901.
