Brendis, Dorothy E. age 84 of Endicott, NY Formerly of Elmira, NY. Dorothy was the beloved daughter of Cora Whitmarsh McCoy and the loving wife and friend of the late Raymond Brendis who passed from her side September 29th, 1972. Dorothy was blessed into rest and reunited with her dearly missed husband Monday, May 7th, 2001 at the Ideal Nursing Center in Endicott, NY. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY Wednesday, May 9th, 2001 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Funeral services will be held there Thursday, May 10th, 2001 at 11:00 AM. Deacon Robert Stowell will officiate. Graveside services will follow at St. Peter and Pauls Cemetery, Elmira, NY. Surviving Dorothy is her loving son and daughter in law: Ronald and Janet Brendis, Granddaughters Patricia and Andrea Brendis, and great granddaughter Haley Brendis all of Omaha, NE.Dorothy and her husband were very well known in the area as the owners and operators of Elmira Drug of Southport, NY. Together they operated a family drug store catering to the needs of the community for many years.Dorothy also was known for operating her own business, Dottie?s Beauty Shop. People knew her best for her witty sense of humor, the sparkle in her eye, wonderful smile, elegance, and determination.Dorothy and her husband attended St. Mary?s Church on the Southside. Dorothy and Ray shared many loving memories at their cottage on Keuka Lake, which they worked so hard on to make their own.She loved her memberships in the Birthday Club, and various bowling leagues in the area including Dottie?s Beauty Shop, and the Dixie Rollers.She was also known for her convertibles and ?Pudgie? the English bulldog she loved. She was a wonderful cook, and caretaker of her family and the community. When her beloved husband Raymond was sick, Dorothy took care of him at home until his passing.
