Dorla C. Smith

Dorla C. (Schonher) Smith, age 94 of Elmira, NY passed away at Chemung County Nursing Facility on August 15, 2018. She was predeceased by her husband of 76 years, Bill. She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Arthur) Gilbert; son, James (Joan) Smith; and daughter, Cheryl (Robert) Jones; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dorla retired from Remington Rand after many years of service. She loved bowling, golfing and especially spending time with her family. Dorla and Bill were known as the "Tennessee Sweethearts", and sang country music for many years, and in later years, sang at churches, senior homes and hospitals. Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Ave, Elmira, NY on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 12 PM to 1 PM. Funeral services will follow at 1 PM. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads, NY. Dorla's family would like to give special thanks to the staff on the 6th floor of CCNF, for their love and care. A special thank you to Cindy, her granddaughter, for all the love and help she gave her grandmother this past year.
