October 12, 1917 — April 17, 2001

VOORHEES, Doris M. Age 83Entered the Gates of Heaven and into the waiting arms of our Lord on Tuesday April 17, 2001. The day of her birth, October 12, 1917 was the start of her life?s journey to display compassion and kindness to all she met. Doris now smiles and laughs in the presence of the loved ones gone before her. Her loving husband of 57 years, John: her parents, Curtis and Cora (Little) Smith, brother and sister in-law, Clifton and Elsie Smith: sister, Bernice (Hamilton) Kingsbury; sister and brother in-law Bertha and Floyd Sheive; brother Glen Smith and sister in-law Dorothy Alger. Left behind to share their wonderful memories and to count the blessings of her parenting are children, Curtis Jon Voorhees of RD # 2, Millerton, PA; Dennis and Sharon Voorhees of Sayre, PA and Judie and husband Charlie Bertani of Elmira, NY. Grandchildren; Cindy and Kenny Baumgartner Sr., Cherri and Pete Quattrini Sr., Sean Voorhees of Ft. Collins, CO and Adam Jon (A.J.) Voorhees of Mansfield, PA will miss her wisdom and understanding.Hugs and kisses will be forever felt by Great Grandchildren, Kenneth and Jamie Baumgartner and John Curtis and Michelle Quattrini. Many Nieces and Nephews will always be in remembrance of the stories she shared of days gone by and her wonderful sense of humor. Special Bingo friends remain basked in her warmth. Her beloved Peanut held a corner of her heart as only a faithful companion can. Doris was at her husbands? side for the many years they shared the farming of Clear Springs Farm on Judson Hill Road, Mosherville, PA. She remained a homemaker throughout her life, providing a loving and comfortable home for her family. A tasty homemade meal, baked goodies and a bright smile awaited all who entered. It was her nature to always give of herself freely and sincerely, refusing anything in return. As she lived life she touched lives. She has been a role model through every step of her life; a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cuddling grandmother and a loyal friend. Her strengths and teachings will live in the hearts of all who loved her. To share in the celebration of her life the family will receive Friends on Thursday, April 19, 2001 at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM with Funeral and Committal Service there at the conclusion of calling hours Thursday evening at 8:00 PM.
