Doris L. Sortland

Doris Lorraine Sortland Age 90 of Elmira, NY, went home to be with her Lord on January 12, 2022 at the Bethany Manor, Horseheads, NY. Doris is survived by her daughter Linda (Lee) Harvey of Millerton, PA; three grandchildren, Amber Northrup, Sabrina Holmes, and Jordan Holmes; one great-grandson, Bobby Northrup; loving sister Dorothy (Gerald) Hurst; two brothers, Dennis (Drinda) Cunningham, Donald (Melanie) Cunningham; sons-in-law, Gerald Green and Jon Abbey; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband of forty nine years, Leif Sortland; two daughters, Lisa Green and Elizabeth Abbey; six brothers and one sister. Doris was born on January 2, 1932, and was raised in Lancaster County, PA. She accepted Christ at a Billy Graham conference in 1953. In 1955, she married the love of her life, Leif and together they traveled and resided in CA, WA, ID, FL, NYC, and Norway, before settling in Elmira, NY. Doris enjoyed being a homemaker while raising her family. She enjoyed gardening, preserving, knitting, and crocheting. Later in life she worked as a CNA for over 20 years, primarily in the private sector. Doris was an active member of the Christian Faith Fellowship Church of Elmira and a devout believer. She was quick to recite memorize scriptures, and pray with and for others. Doris was blessed with a very generous spirit. As per Doris' request, there will be no services.
