Doris M. Slusser

Slusser, Doris M. Age 100 of Elmira, NY passed away September 28, 2023 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center after a brief illness.  She was born in Nescopeck, PA; January 5th, 1923, the daughter of the late Phillip and Christine (Baer) Mowery.  She is predeceased by her husband Luther and is survived by her three sons: Roy (Ginny) Slusser of Himrod, Karl Slusser of Horseheads, Kevin Slusser of Elmira, daughter- in-law Sandra Slusser of Elmira, 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 3 nephews.  In addition to her husband Luther she is also predeceased by her sons: Ronald Slusser and Dean Slusser, brothers Charles and Lawrence Mowery, and granddaughter Andrea Mahon.  Doris married her husband Luther on Christmas Eve 1943 in Gulfport, Mississippi.  She became active in their family business in 1959.  While raising five sons, she was active in her church, Holy Trinity Lutheran.  She enjoyed working in her vegetable garden along side of her husband Luke and loved to cook large holiday meals as well as hosting weekend picnics at the family pool. Grammy always had goodies for her many grandchildren!  Doris will be greatly missed as the matriarch of the entire Slusser family. The family believes that Mom’s longevity may be partially attributed to her love of scrapple, cheesecake and limburger cheese! Her final resting place will be in the Woodlawn National Cemetery Wall alongside of her late husband Luther.  Donations may be made to the Bethany Lutheran Church memorial fund
