Doris J. Robbins

Robbins, Doris J. (Knapp) 94 of Horseheads after declining health passed away Tuesday, March 28th, 2023 at the Guthrie Corning Hospital. She was born in Elmira, October 22nd, 1928; the daughter the late Jesse and Louise (Mocker) Knapp. Doris was predeceased by her loving husband and high school sweetheart of 66 years, Otis in 2016. She is survived by her son and daughter in law: Daniel and Karen Robbins of Pine City; Daughter and son in law: Nancy (Chaborek) and Larry Woodward of Horseheads; Grandchildren: Daniel and Stacey Robbins, David and Lejla Robbins, Jessica and Joseph Norman, James Nichols (Fiance`e, Mallory Stanton), Michael Chaborek, Larry Woodward and Matthew Woodward; Great grandchildren: Alexa, Wyatt, Jace, Tyler, Presley, Cameron, Thomas, Sadie, and Max along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband Doris is predeceased by her Son in law: Mark J. Chaborek, brother and sister in law John and Patricia Knapp. Doris was a loving wife and devoted mother who loved her family. She will always be remembered for her infectious smile and personality. Her favorite memories were made surrounded by family vacations to Vermont, Myrtle Beach, SC and Waneta lake. Doris enjoyed ceramics, weekly bingo with Otis, winning at the casino, and gardening. She worked many years at Empire Foods and Johnson's Drug Store, where she made the best sundaes and milkshakes. Doris only lived in two homes in her whole life, 80 years on Phoenix Avenue and 14 years in Horseheads with her daughter and family. She loved her many cat companions throughout her years. Making memories with family was her greatest treasure.
Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY Friday, March 31st, 2023 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. A celebration of Doris's life will be held at the conclusion of the calling hours at 7:00PM. Private graveside services will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Corning, NY at the convenience of the family.
